COVID Reminder Clinic
The East Liverpool City Health Board is partnering with East Liverpool City Hospital to offer a walk-in COVID booster vaccination clinic only from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 6 at the East Liverpool Community Centre. COVID vaccination reminders will be free for anyone wishing to receive the Moderna booster. No ID is required but previous vaccination records are required to receive the booster. No reservations or appointments necessary.
Pulled Pork at Fall River Fest
The New Cumberland Lions Club will be selling pulled pork sandwiches provided by Hale’s High Street Kitchen at Franco’s for $7 at New Cumberland Fall River Fest on Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. offered will be a potato salad and baked beans at $1 each. Add a side or both to make a meal. Drinks will be available for $1. Bottled water and sodas are also available for $1. The Lions Club will also be raffling off several items, including a new Blackston Grill with tailgate supply basket and an all-new American Girl Sparkling Ballerina doll and accessories. Tickets will be available at the New Cumberland Lions Club booth. The draw will take place on September 25 at the end of the festival.
13th Annual River Festival
Forty vendors and a top-notch entertainment roster will gather on River Avenue for the 13th Annual River Fest in New Cumberland, W.Va., September 24-25.
Saturday begins at 9 a.m. with the Riverfest 5K to benefit the Oak Glen High School Athletics Department chaired by Trisha Enochs. The New Cumberland Boy Scout Troop No. 38 Honor Guard will lead the Oak Glen High School Marching Band to the clubhouse at 11:00 a.m., where the marching band will perform for the start of Riverfest. Mayor Will White will speak a few words in honor of Councilman and longtime Riverfest committee member Brian Webster, who passed away unexpectedly.
The Riverfest Art Show, featuring local artists and children’s artwork, will be open to the public all weekend. The car show, chaired by Jim Ewing, will be held at Firemen’s Field from noon to 3 p.m. on September 24. There will be free bounce houses on both days. On September 24, there will be a Zorb Ball racing game for children and also an ax throwing game.
The constant entertainment on September 24 includes Kent Cox, Michele’s Dance Studio, Easy Street Band, Led Foot Lover, Eli and The Mojo Kings and the evening ends with a fireworks display.
September 25 begins with a church service at 11 a.m. with music provided by the band Redwood. The Little Miss New Cumberland Pageant then graces the stage with local youth. Express Your Talent brings its dancers to entertain. West Liberty Steel Drums will have festival-goers dancing in the street.
EL Community Choir Concert
After two years, the East Liverpool Community Choir return for their annual Christmas concert. This will be the 24th year of the choir, which began in 1996. Many of the original founding members are still involved in the choir, which is represented by nearly 25 churches in the region. Rehearsals will begin September 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 670 Walnut St., East Liverpool. The concert dates are December 17 and 18 at the church. All singers in the area (churches, schools or any local talent) are welcome to join the choir.
