GoCar recently launched a new campaign called GoCarLah which offers discounts for its car-sharing service. This includes three hours of free travel for its electric car offering, GoEV.
For those unfamiliar with GoEV, the service was launched last December and it is currently the only app-based electric car sharing service in the country. Along with the 2019 Nissan Leaf, it is available at multiple locations in the Klang Valley, including Avenue K Mall, Mid Valley Megamall, KL Sentral, Nissan Glenmarie, and MyTown Mall, as well as GoCar’s office in Petaling Jaya and Segambut.
According to Nissan Malaysia, the Leaf is equipped with a 110 kW engine that delivers 150 hp of maximum power with 320 Nm of maximum torque and has a top speed of 155 km/h. Thanks to its 40 kWh battery, the EV has a maximum range of 311 km according to NEDC standards.
GoCar has included a ChargEV card inside all GoEV Leafs along with a type 1 to type 2 charging cable. This is how GoEV users can charge the Leaf for free on any charger AC ChargeEV nationwide.
That being said, you might not want to spend time charging the car when you rent it, as the Leaf takes about seven hours to fully charge, as it can only handle up to 6.5kW of power. when plugged into an AC charger. However, charging time can be drastically reduced to around an hour via a 50kW DC fast charger supported by CHAdeMO.
Meanwhile, the current rental charge is RM24.90 per hour, which is rather high compared to most ICE-based carsharing vehicles. However, GoEV can still be considered a relatively affordable way to experience electric cars considering that brand new electric vehicles in Malaysia cost even more than RM150k.
To take advantage of the free three-hour driver for GoEV, simply enter the “GOEVLAH” promo code when booking which can be done via Android by GoCar Where iOS app. Valid until the end of September 2022, GoCar has also stated that they are waiving the usual RM20 membership throughout the GoCarLah promotion period, but as always, we recommend that you check and understand the terms and conditions of the promotion before continuing.
