Kia India will officially open reservations for the Carens minivan on January 14. The next minivan will be available in six- and seven-seater options. The Carens will be the fourth Kia model to be introduced in the country. Interestingly, the upcoming MPV is also the first model to be introduced under the new design philosophy and the company says the vehicle will offer the longest wheelbase in its segment at 2,780mm.
The Kia Carens will be available in five variants: Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. The fairing is highlighted by crown jewel LED headlamps with Star Map LED daytime running lights and a digital grille with the Kia Signature Tiger face. The side profile is highlighted by a plastic coating and sharp edge lines. As for the rear, the vehicle receives wraparound Star Map LED taillights and three-dimensional chrome trim on the bumper. The Kia Carens will be available in two gasoline engines and a diesel engine option. The Smartstream G1.5 receives a six-speed manual transmission that produces 112 hp at 6,300 rpm and 144 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. On the other hand, the SmartStream G1.4 T-GDi produces 136 hp at 6,000 rpm and 242 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm and 3,320 rpm. The turbo petrol engine will be available in both a six-speed manual and a seven-speed DCT. The diesel version features an optional 1.5-liter CRDi VGT six-speed manual and six-speed automatic that will generate 112 hp at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,750 rpm.
Key features of the Kia Carens include 10.25-inch HD touchscreen navigation with next-generation Kia Connect (66 connected car features), 64-color ambient ambient lighting in the passenger compartment and a premium Bose audio with eight speakers. In addition, the next vehicle will also offer ventilated front seats, a SkyLight sunroof, easy one-touch power rocker second row seats, and more.
