Mahindra has seen tremendous growth in sales and popularity over the past few years. It completely turned over a new leaf and started attracting a new class of buyers while retaining its old ones. Previously known for its rugged and hardcore vehicles, the brand now intends to innovate. It aims to stay head-to-head with the market by offering well-balanced vehicles like the XUV700 and the new Scorpio-N. However, the brand has not yet concluded its year. Mahindra is set to unveil 8 more cars this year. In today’s article, let’s take a look at these 8 new cars from Mahindra.
5 electric SUVs born
To mark a big statement in the electric vehicle segment, Mahindra is preparing to introduce 5 new fully electric cars on August 15 this year. These new cars from Mahindra have been built from the ground up, keeping Indian environment and driving conditions in mind. The brand partnered with Volkswagen not so long ago. The mechanical end caps should thus come from Volkswagen as part of its range of MEB components. This will help the brand to control its costs. All in all, this new “Born Electric” plan is supposed to create a lot of buzz in the market.
Mahindra Scorpion Classic
With the Scorpio-N, the brand achieved a record acquisition of 1 lakh bookings in just 30 minutes, but that doesn’t mean the original car is leaving the stable. Mahindra plans to continue the Scorpio Classic with some updated trinkets and tricks to give it a modern look. It will continue the classic design with the mHawk diesel engine. The Scorpio Classic will get an updated infotainment system, a new set of alloys, “Classic” badging on the rear and the new “Twin Peaks” logo on the grille. Mahindra is expected to launch it in the coming months.
For anyone looking for an alternative to the Tata Nexon EV, this new electric counterpart to the XUV300 will hit the market soon. Spotted in disguise, it shares the styling and design of the XUV300 with some minor tweaks to the front and rear. In terms of space and practicality, it is touted as being longer than the XUV300 (said to be around 4.2m in length). The electric vehicle is also touted to get high energy density NMC battery cells that could deliver high range and good performance. The electric SUV is expected to hit the markets in September this year.
Mahindra XUV300 Sportz
Unveiled at Auto Expo 2020, Mahindra is expected to introduce the XUV300 Sportz variant this year for performance-enthusiastic buyers. The Sportz variant is not only a sporty facelift of the regular XUV300, but also a performance upgrade. It is said to come with a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol with direct injection and overboost technologies. With that, it should produce 128 hp and 230 Nm of torque. Justifying the sporty element, it may have red brake calipers, sporty vinyl on the bodywork and red inserts in interior panels such as the steering wheel, center dashboard panels and door pads.
