Road closed and air ambulance lands after teenager was hit by car

A teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a collision between the car and the teenager on County Road in Kirkby at 3.06pm on Wednesday. A number of vehicles, including an air ambulance, were present.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman told ECHO the boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by road. Merseyside Police also attended and closed the road while officers dealt with the incident.

The road remained closed, resulting in a heavy build-up of rush-hour traffic as vehicles came to a standstill.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson told ECHO: ‘At approximately 3pm officers were called to report a collision involving a pedestrian – a teenager and a red seat on County Road in Kirkby today, April 13, 2022 .

“Emergency services responded and the boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver remained at the scene and assisted the police in their investigation.

“The county road between Boyes Brown and Hall Lane is currently closed while officers continue their investigations.
