Should we wait for the new Toyota Innova Hybrid? » MotorOctane

Toyota has been working on several new products and it is not hidden from us. Toyota has been working on several new products for the Indian automotive market. Some are in collaboration with Maruti, others are not. Toyota is known for its Innova and Fortuner, which are mostly dominated by diesel engines. With the Innova, the same might not hold true for long. Toyota will introduce an all-new Innova, which won’t be based on the Fortuner – and it will be a front-wheel-drive CUV. This new Innova could be named HyCross and will be available with 2.0-litre petrol and petrol hybrid options. Let’s talk about the Toyota Innova hybrid in detail.

New engine?

Toyota has been working on several new engines and platforms and one of each will be seen on the new Innova HyCross. We’ve already driven and experienced the new Toyota Urban Cruise Hyryder, which gets the new 1.5-litre petrol hybrid engine. Thus, the 1.5-litre engine is a 3-cylinder engine and its 4-cylinder version is the 2.0-litre, which will power the new Innova HyCross. So technically it will be the same engine with different cylinder configurations.

Toyota Innova Hybrid – Other Details

It will be longer than the current model, will offer much more modern features and will also be sold with the current Innova Crysta. If you are confused right now? We’d recommend you wait – as the new Innova will be unveiled towards the end of November this year. While reservations for the Crysta have been halted as the current Innova Crysta has been overbooked anyway. So you can pre-book the Innova HyCross yourself – and you won’t have many details about this MUV.

Future launches

As for Toyota’s other launches, the Urban Cruiser facelift is also planned. The current Fortuner will also get a worldwide replacement and there have been rumors that the Fortuner will get a diesel hybrid system which will reduce the carbon footprint of this SUV. Toyota has a lot of action packed in the next two years of all new products and even some rebadging of Maruti vehicles like the Ciaz. For now, hold on to the seat, this will be the Japanese automaker’s next ride.
